Sleepover At Aunty Maud's - A3 Print
I was doing some research on endangered species and found out about predator-free Maud Island in the Marlborough Sounds where various bird species have been relocated to rebuild their populations. I thought "Maud" sounded like the name of an old Aunty and imagined birds all going to stay at old Aunty's place and having to share a bed with their cousins. The frog is the Maud Island frog, who obviously has been booted out of his own bed by visitors!
The original painting was awarded a Merit Award in the Edinburgh Realty Premier Art Awards 2019 in Dunedin.
